Christmas from the perspective of dachshund Alma: The tree, the paper and the big feeding

The article humorously tells the story from the perspective of dachshund Alma, who wonders about her humans' bizarre Christmas traditions, but emphasizes that she still loves spending time together, going for walks, and dealing with the chaos of wrapping paper.

Woof, and welcome to my very own Christmas report! I'm Alma, the dachshund, and I've been thinking about what my two-legged friends get up to every December. Don't get me wrong—I love Christmas! But there are a few things I just don't understand.

The tree – why inside?

It all starts with this tree. Imagine, there it is in the forest, smelling wonderfully of adventure, of earth, and of... well, of everything we dogs love. And then? Then it gets sawed down and dragged into the living room! Why? It was so good standing there in the forest!

The best part: The two-legged creatures then hang colorful balls, glitter, and lights on it. I mean, really? The tree was already beautiful, so natural! Besides, let's be honest, it's a real tree – and I'm not allowed to sniff it or dig into it, let alone do my business on it. Totally incomprehensible.

The Gifts – Paper Chaos Deluxe

Then we come to the presents. Suddenly, there's a whole pile of colorfully wrapped boxes and bags under the tree. People are sitting around them, tearing off the wrapping paper, and everything becomes chaos. And that's where things get exciting!

I could spend hours playing with this crinkly paper, pulling it out of boxes, shredding it, hiding it—it's a dream! But of course I'm not allowed to. "Alma, stop that!" Yes, yes, I hear it every year. Still, I always find a moment at the end to secretly pounce on a piece of wrapping paper . Woof!

The big meal and the digestive snack

But now comes the best part of Christmas : the food. People cook and bake, and all day long the smell of roasts, cookies, and, oh yes, sausages fills the air! And then it's time to eat. And eat. And eat some more.

What I don't understand is why people constantly complain? "Oh, I ate too much!" – Well, then eat less, I think to myself. But no, they just sit back down at the table and carry on. And then, when they really can't take it anymore, they have this liquor. For digestion, they say. Does it work? I have no idea.

The best thing about Christmas: time and walks

Despite all the strange things, I love Christmas—especially because my humans have a lot of time for me. There's nothing better than a long walk through the snow. The cold air, the crunching snow under my paws, and the many smells—it's like Christmas for my dachshund nose.

So, dear two-legged friends, let me tell you: Christmas may be a little crazy, but for us dogs, it's a wonderful time because you have us with you so often. And when the wrapping paper is within reach... Perfect!

Merry Christmas and a hearty woof from your Alma!
